Bio
Chelsea E. Bird is a jeweler and textile artist working out of her shared studio near Providence, RI. She has a BFA in both Jewelry/Metals, and Textile Design/Fiber Arts, from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Chelsea’s jewelry designs are inspired by forms in nature and influenced by her background in pattern design. Her love of color and contrasting textures features predominately in her work. Her pieces are primarily in Sterling silver, which is formed and textured using chasing and repousse, dapping, and hydraulic press forming. Color is added to her work using glass enamel, small faceted stones, and silk fabric set into the silver. Her delicate and modern designs are light and pleasing to wear. The small splashes of color and sparkle, compliment anything from casual chic to evening wear.

Jewelry Care
All of my jewelry is made with solid Sterling silver, which will tarnish over time. To slow this process, wash jewelry every so often with mild soap and water, and store in a box or bag. If you do need to remove tarnish on bright silver and enameled pieces, a dip silver cleaner works best to preserve the finish. If the silver is darkened with a patina it should not need cleaning. For jewelry containing fabric, wash using only mild soap and water. Do not use a chemical cleaner. I will be happy to clean and refinish worn pieces of my jewelry, please contact my studio.
